Abstract: Over the past few decades behavioral economics and experimental economics have received increasing attention among economists. In this paper, we show how laboratory experiments provide useful tools for the evaluation of labor market programs. We present a general framework and two examples to show how experiments and existing methods act as complementary inputs of an evaluation process. We also discuss what experimental evidence adds to standard theoretical representations of the labor market.
