Abstract:
The results of an archival and interview based survey are presented that describe two processes of quantification linked to French LOLF (a new state budget nomenclature and a performance measurement system) as the product of struggles between government departments. The paper finally underlines how calculation devices can contribute to shape government action by linking budget allocation to performance results.
