LE FIHAVANANA À MADAGASCAR: LIEN SOCIAL ET ÉCONOMIQUE DES COMMUNAUTÉS RURALES

Abstract: In Madagascar, a system of rules and norms called Fihavanana guides people?s behaviour. This system deals with interpersonal relationships, rules of social conduct and risk-strategy. In rural area, we observed a strong embeddedness of economics and social processes but this is less true for some decades. If Fihavanana is always present in social relations, however its role in economic production is not so strong. With our own quantitative and qualitative data, a case study in a rural village in Madagascar Highlands shows the way and the reasons of this evolution.
