Abstract: This paper evaluates dispatching rules at timed transfer transit terminals. The evaluation focuses on total passenger delay and the number of passengers missing their connections. Analytical and simulation models are developed to evaluate the benefit of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) applications. The authors conclude that the benefit of ITS for timed transfer alone does not justify the implementation of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for bus tracking technology.
