Economic Statistics Series from Central Bank of Chile
Abstract:
This paper describes the methodology and main concepts of financial system interest rate statistics published by the Central Bank of Chile, in order to facilitate understanding and analysis by the general public. In Chile, the Central Bank compiles and publishes information on observed interest rates using data provided daily by the banks themselves, which includes all their effective deposit and lending operations with third parties. The information disclosed includes primarily breakdowns by type of product, currency and contractual term. It is worth noting the high frequency and timing with which statistics are made available to the public.
