Abstract:
We propose a characterisation of the regions, groups of regions and states of Iberia as a whole, as well as a comparison, using the appropriate methods, of recent dynamic evolution on these spatial scales with respect to the 2001-2019 period. Our key findings show that large disparities in production contrast with lower industry mix disparities at state level. The distribution of the sectoral structure across the regional areas proposed in this paper is quite similar, with the exception of the Basque-Navarre and Macaronesia areas. In terms of dynamics, we also concluded that disparities evolved steadily from 2001 to 2019 within the Iberian regions, areas and states.
