Abstract:
Our study addresses a clustering procedure that allows consistent results to be obtained on the basis of the variables investigated. We infer that the large disparities in area and population are congruent with those in production. Population is evenly distributed by region and area, especially within the clustered regions, which supports the desirability of regional groupings. In our analysis of intra-group and inter-group inequalities with respect to GDP per capita for the regional groupings analysed, the total relative redundancy indicator suggests that GDP per capita is very similar for the different regional areas, as its value is close to zero. The within-area disparity is greater than the between-area disparity, although the values are low and there is not much difference between the two. The institutional and administrative map has an impact, as well as the asymmetry of the individual distribution of each variable in the territory.
