Abstract: We conduct a retrospective evaluation of The North American Journal of Economics and Finance. Over its 25 years of publication, the journal has evolved. In its early years, its focus was international economics. Building on its early momentum, the new editorial team in late 2010, led by Professor Hamid Beladi, shifted the focus to financial economics and added a number of special issues to draw the interest of scholars worldwide. Research quality, as indicated by the 2013 impact factor, is on the rise and is comparable to many core journals in financial economics. Overall, the journal has a diverse authorship and it has been a success over the last 25 years. The recent change in the journal since 2010 adds to its momentum and is likely to propel it to a higher place among financial economics journals.
