Abstract:
•The combined CO2 reduction potential is dependent on the deployment sequence.•Deployment of CO2 mitigation measures opens and closes deployment paths.•Conservative estimates do not represent the potential of heat integration measures.•Approaches (e.g. MACC) are not fit for the assessment of heat integration measures.•Heat pumps have a high reduction potential with a high sensitivity to changes.
