Abstract:
Exploiting renewable resources considering their discontinuity compared to building needs, necessitates energy system designs that simultaneously maximize generation and storage performance in different seasons. This article presents the optimization of RESHeat European project, concerning a high-performance system which combines water-source heat pump, cooled photovoltaic panels and thermal storage. The research regards the Italian demo site, near Rome, to define a solution for Mediterranean regions which alongside the requirement for heating have notable need for summer cooling. The targets are system's efficiency, with a minimum sCOP of 5, and a minimum 70 % coverage from renewable sources focusing ambient temperature management.
