Digital transformation and total factor productivity

Lan Wang

Finance Research Letters, 2023, vol. 58, issue PA

Abstract: This study investigates the influence of digital transformation on total factor productivity of enterprises, along with the mechanisms driving this impact. The results suggest that innovation in digital technology can increase total factor productivity. Heterogeneity analysis reveals that this effect is particularly favorable in state-owned enterprises. Moreover, the study of mechanisms uncovers that digital transformation can enhance corporate innovation. Our findings provide timely policy implications for governments concerning digital transformation.
