Abstract:
This study evaluates the increase of market access brought by transportation infrastructure and export performance of firms. The findings reveal that improved market access leads to more new firms entry to export, which intensified competition among both existing and new exporters in the export market. Additionally, the study also finds that firms in the eastern regions of China experience more intense competition in export markets compared to those in the western regions.
