When the dust has settled: A final note on replication

Abstract: Honing and Samuelsson (2014, 2015) in their two papers have criticized the Delmar and Shane (2003) paper on several grounds: The data are difficult to replicate; conflicting results with another paper using the same data and similar independent variable; the inability to fully rule out reversed causality because of tied events; and what is the choice of relevant dependent variable. I also commented on several of these issues in an earlier response (Delmar, 2015) and an informative commentary was also made by Davidsson (2015). To bring some final clarity, I will here address the issue of replication and the issue of conflicting results by explaining how Delmar and Shane constructed their data set.
