Yi Zhao and Shaoqi Kong

Resources Policy, 2022, vol. 75, issue C

Abstract: •This study aims to present a moderated mediation model that helps to understand how and under what conditions openness of mining firms' specialized search influences ambidextrous digital process innovation.•Absorptive capacity mediates the effect of firm's openness in specialized search on ambidextrous digital process innovation.•Organizational innovativeness plays an important moderating role in firm's openness in specialized search—absorptive capacity relationships.•When organizational innovativeness is high, firm's openness in specialized search will have stronger positive effect on ambidextrous digital process innovation via absorptive capacity.
