Jiangli Yu, Shuo Wang and Wantong Yang

Resources Policy, 2023, vol. 86, issue PA

Abstract: Geopolitical risks and natural resources governance have recently become the focus of increasing scholarly attention. To provide a systematic analysis of the literature on this topic, this paper conducts a bibliometric approach and network analysis. Our findings illustrate that the issue of “Geopolitical Risks-Natural Resources Governance” is a cross-disciplinary research area that has received wide-ranging attention from legal, political, economic, geographic, and military disciplines. In addition, previous research paid attention to the discussion of “naturalresources→geopolitical conflicts” before 2015, while scholars have focused on the research of “geopoliticalrisks→naturalresourcesgovernance” after 2015. Furthermore, we predict that scholars will continue focusing on the research of the influence of geopolitical risks on natural resources governance. Finally, we recommend that subsequent studies use regression discontinuity design (RDD) and difference-in-difference (DID) methods to address endogeneity.
