Abstract:
In this work, the distribution function for electrons inside a solid was obtained for several collision frequency models. The distortion of the Fermi distribution function induced by the electric field was shown at different times: its behaviour at early times proved particularly interesting. From the distribution function the current density as a function of time was derived. The case where acoustic interactions take place exhibited an early peak in the current density, analogous to what was found in previous work by Nougier and coworkers (Phys. Rev. B 8 (1973) 5728; J. Appl. Phys. 52 (2) 1981 825).
