Abstract: Because of the importance of smart grids reliability, various stochastic-based simulation methodologies e.g. Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) have been developed. In contrast, the much less effort has been devoted in literature to develop the generalized analytical ones. In this paper, a new generalized analytical methodology is developed for smart grids’ reliability assessment. The main contributions of this article are proposing a new state matrix (S-matrix) method including the novel model for investigating the smart grid operating modes by using the segmentation concepts and graph theory; developing a new comprehensive model of PHEVs considering the all their uncertainties; and introduction of a novel integrating methodology of separate elements.
