Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2017, vol. 79, issue C, 1091-1098

Abstract: Bio-oil production is a promising way to solve both energy shortage and agricultural waste pollution problems, while better upgrading methods of bio-oil are needed to enhance the economic efficiency. For this reason, hydrogen generation from biomass derived acetic acid, one of the major components in bio-oil, has been extensively researched. So far, a number of catalysts have been developed towards acetic acid steam reforming (AASR), but insightful review in this field is rarely seen. This paper is a critical review on current researching status about catalysts towards AASR, which includes catalyst development, mechanic understanding and catalyst deactivation. Meanwhile, the discussion for further researching directions and competitions are also presented.
