Abstract: •Two contingent valuation framings applied to obtain WTA for conservation contracts.•Auction framing resulted in lower mean WTA and sample variance than standard.•Auction framing more meaningfully correlated with socio-demographic drivers.•WTA positively correlated to measures of foregone rent from halting deforestation.•Promising potential of WTA methods for designing future conservation strategies.
