Abstract:
This paper quantitatively examines the effects of regional port integration in the multiport region (MPR) by applying a game theoretical approach. We construct a three-stage non-cooperative game theoretical model where each port sets container throughput in the timing of port integration effort, in light of choosing the different degree of regional port integration. Our main findings are that a higher degree of regional port integration can cause lower handling charge and more container throughput, as well as the threshold effect is derived in the process of regional port integration. Numerical simulation is applied to the case of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port.
