Abstract:
There has recently been a rather large reduction of between 34% and 75% in domestic aviation demand in Korea. The two primary causes were the introduction of several new highway services and the fact that Korea Train Express (KTX) began operating a route between Seoul and Daegu in April 2004. This study analyzes the effects on air traffic demand in terms of the impact of the opening of KTX by applying the Stated Preference (SP) survey method. The survey was conducted 8 months prior to the opening of the KTX.
