Abstract:
•This paper provides a systematic review of the growing research into the wider economic benefits, or WEBs, of air transport.•It analyses what constitutes a WEB, distinguishing them from related wider economic impacts (WEIs).•The paper provides a critical discussion of possible sources of WEBs and how WEBs might be evaluated.•The paper provides an overall review of the characteristics of suggested WEBs and ways of improving their measurement.
