Abstract: •Rural livelihoods were analyzed between 2003 and 2011, and four trajectories of change were characterized.•Seasonal migratory labor and participation in off-farm employment became more common.•Land and income gaps increased, while early waves of out-migration were documented.•Social and economic relationships are changing, with stronger connections to urban areas.
