Abstract:
In this paper we study the export diversification neighboring effects in 15 MENA countries for the period spanning from 2000 to 2019. The determinants of MENA export diversification and local potential spillovers are explored via a bundle of spatial econometric tools. The estimation results show the existence of feedback loops between neighboring countries in favor of export concentration. However, this could be mitigated by several economic factors that are under the control of MENA countries.
