Stop Stunting in South Asia: A Common Narrative on Maternal and Child Nutrition
United Nations Children's Fund Unicef
Working Papers from eSocialSciences
Abstract:
Governments in South Asia are progressively acknowledging that child stunting is both a marker and a maker of poor development. UNICEF regional and country offices in South Asia work with regional bodies, national and sub-national governments, development partners, research and academic institutions, national and international NGOs, civil society organizations, and the media to accelerate progress towards the target set by the World Health Assembly to reduce the number of children under five who are stunted by 40%, from 171 million in 2010 to about 100 million in 2025 (WHO 2015).
