Abstract:
This background paper discusses the conceptual and empirical linkages between trade liberalization and gender equality in the context of development; and the impact of the WTO and PTA/FTAs on gender. It then provides a cross section of recent results on this linkage in India. Providing an overview of the main issues from a Southern perspective with an indicative literature survey, this backgrounder can be used as a reference tool for CSOs, students, researchers and policy analysts.[Paper I]
