Abstract: As time went by, the curricula of French engineering schools have evolved. The topic of this contribution is to show how taking the key role of conception in innovation into account has led to a change of paradigm - innovation can no longer be considered as an application of sciences - thus leading to reconsidering the education model of engineers. In doing so, we shall have to assess the consequences it had on the teaching of human and social sciences during that education.
