Working Papers from HAL

Abstract: This paper aims to study the econometric determinants of repayment performance of credit groups receiving loans from two micro-finance institutions (WAGES and FUCEC) in Togo. The probit and the negative binomial results from our primary data collected in 2008 in rural and semi-urban areas of the Maritime region (excluding Lome) have shown evidence that monitoring (peers visits, same business) social capital (same sex, same ethnic group), informal sources of credit (itinerant bankers, moneylenders and ROSCAs) and the age of groups have contributed to the good repayment performance that stood at 75%
