Abstract:
Drawing on the resource-based view, I examine effects of human-based resources of entrepreneurs, namely, entrepreneurial versatility, social capital, and human capital on a firm's performance in the context of a large transition economy – the Russian Federation. The empirical data comprise face-to-face interviews with 75 Russian entrepreneurs in 1995, and follow-up interviews with 56 original respondents in 1999. I found that industry experience and entrepreneurial versatility, defined as an ability to predict resource needs, have positive impacts on a firm's revenue growth.
