The actorhood of organisational capital

Jan Mouritsen and Gergana Koleva

International Journal of Learning and Intellectual Capital, 2004, vol. 1, issue 2, 177-189

Abstract: This paper argues and illustrates that organisational capital is much more active than normally assumed. Often, it is suggested the human capital acts and organisational capital is a "dead matter" waiting to be mobilised. In this paper, we investigate how organisational capital is an actor and illustrate through small cases of two kinds of organisational capital – organisational culture and IT tool – how organisational capital problematises, interests, enrolls and mobilises e.g. human capital.
