Human resources' entrepreneurial attitude orientation by gender and background: a study of Indian Air Force trainees

Abstract: Primary data gathered through a questionnaire from 435 trainee respondents was analysed to assess the score on four personality descriptors, that is, need for achievement, personal control, self-esteem and innovation around three attitude components, that is, affect, behaviour and cognition.The study explored the impact of gender and family background on the Entrepreneurial Attitude Orientation (EAO). This study showed that a significant difference exists between male and female trainees on achievement motivation. However, no significant differences were noted between male and female subjects in terms of innovation, personal control and self-esteem. Interestingly, service background trainees scored comparatively higher on achievement, locus of control and self-esteem. Gender and background factors also interacted significantly in determining one's EAO.
