Product Lifecycle Quality (PLQ): a framework within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) for achieving product quality

Abstract: Product quality receives much attention but means different things to different people depending on their involvement with a product. Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) with its holistic view of a product from birth to death requires an equally encompassing view of quality. Product Lifecycle Quality (PLQ) is a proposed framework to define an overall view of product quality that applies to the four phases of a product's lifecycle: creation, build, use, and dispose. The paper will discuss product quality as being defined by the perceived value of the product user and propagating through the different phases of product's life.
