Abstract:
For the European Union, combating climate change is an important objective in ensuring sustainable development. In this context, the EU has adopted numerous measures to achieve the objectives in this field, for the year 2020, as well as for the post-2020 period. To this end, the European Commission and the Member States must work together to transform the European Union into a truly intelligent and sustainable economy with low carbon emissions. The package of measures entitled 'Clean Energy for all Europeans' aims to maintain the competitiveness of the European Union, given that the transition to a clean energy changes the world energy markets. In this package, the Commission focuses on energy produced by renewable sources, energy efficiency and the offer of equitable solutions to consumers.Hence, this paper presents a quantitative analysis based on Eurostat data, on the progress made by Member States in the field of renewable energy.
