COP26 AGREEMENTS AND RECENT EU STRATEGIES

Abstract: Among the strategies launched by the EU under the auspices of the European Green Deal, those on methane, forests and biodiversity have found a counterpart in some decisions taken at COP 26 where a methane agreement was concluded between the US, the EU and 103states representing 70% of the methane emissions, which reduces global methane emissions by at least 30% from 2020 to 2030, but also an agreement between 100 states representing over85% of the world's forests committed to ending deforestation and making massive replantings by 2030. It is also worth mentioning the recently launched EU Biodiversity Strategy, which aims to put Europe's biodiversity on the path to recovery by 2030 for the benefit of people, the climate and the planet.
