Abstract: Abstract This study investigates the correlation between biomass energy development and rural economic growth in China from 2005 to 2021. It utilizes data envelopment analysis (DEA) to evaluate efficiency and sustainability paths. This study looks at how using biomass for energy generation affects local economies and how it promotes sustainable development, especially in rural areas where it has been used most frequently. To evaluate the effectiveness of biomass energy projects, the DEA model takes into account a number of input and output factors, such as investment costs, employment, the reduction of carbon emissions, and energy output. The results of our investigation show that the adoption of biomass energy projects has had a significant influence on rural communities' economic growth, as demonstrated by the high efficiency ratings attained in the DEA model. For policymakers trying to strike a compromise between environmental concerns and economic growth, this study offers useful data.
