Abstract: Cellular and organismal aging have been consistently associated with mitochondrial dysfunction and inflammation. Accumulating evidence indicates that aging-related inflammatory responses are mechanistically linked to compromised mitochondrial integrity coupled with mtDNA-driven CGAS activation, a process that is tonically inhibited by mitophagy.
