Abstract:
The study discusses the main results of the new survey of household wealth and indebtedness in Poland and compares the main statistics of the wealth position of Polish households vis-a-vis euro area countries. Quantile regression is applied to identify the drivers of net wealth along the net wealth distribution. Wealth inequality is analysed with the use of the Gini coefficient decompositions by wealth component and by household group and the basic methodological features of the new survey of households finance are highlighted. A short review of the latest literature on household finance in Europe supplements the paper.
