Abstract:
This paper provides an overview of the USTR Special Report 301, its methodology for categorizing countries, and key issues highlighted in the 2022 report. It analyzes data from the USTR reports over the past three years, focusing on developments in Asian countries and concerns of rights holders. The paper explores the problem of counterfeit goods in China and Southeast Asia and its impact on the global economy. It also delves into the culture of counterfeiting and its underlying factors. Criticisms against the USTR Special Report 301 are examined, and its effectiveness in promoting global IPR protection is evaluated. Overall, this paper aims to enhance understanding of IPR protection challenges and the role of the USTR Special Report 301 in addressing them.
