Abstract:
This paper takes stock of the performance of the national economy in certain key areas covering the first six months of FY2011-12 (July-December 2011). The review sets the stage by analysing the most recent trends in the global and regional economies and tries to interpret their implications for Bangladesh. The focus areas of the review include the state of public finance, monetary sector, capital market and balance of payments situation. The paper rounds off with an analysis of the short-term outlook of the economy including its growth prospect.
