Philippine Trade Policy Options

Erlinda M. Medalla, Florian Alburo and Filologo Jr. Pante

No WP 1989-09, Working Papers from Philippine Institute for Development Studies

Abstract: While this paper does not purport to be exhaustive in identifying a wide range of alternatives, it nevertheless attempts to explore Philippine trade options in the Uruguay Round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations. It attempts to indicate some policy options in the context of the Uruguay Round. It also describes the products or markets, which have apparent importance to the Philippines in the present Round, the priorities the country can take and the new issues that will be covered in the Round. It then suggests some strategies that can be pursued by the Philippines.
