Abstract: [fre] En voulant critiquer la théorie quantitative de la monnaie, R. Hilferding, dans son texte «Monnaie et Marchandise» tente d'approfondir la théorie de la monnaie-marchandise ; pour cela, il adopte une notion nouvelle : la demande illimitée. Il se trouve alors confronté à une difficulté déjà présente chez Marx et inhérente à cette théorie : la socialisation des travaux privés du producteur d'or. La notion de demande illimitée se présente alors comme point de non- retour qui imposera de facto une valeur de la monnaie indépendante de toute relation d'échange. Cet échec ne peut que nous engager à nous orienter vers d'autres voies de recherche qui priviligierait la notion de monnaie aux dépens de celle de marchandise. [eng] In this criticism of the quantitative theory of money, Hilferding tries, in a text called «Money and Commodity», to investigate the theory of money as a commodity. For that purpose, he uses a new notion : the unlimited demand. But then, he meets a difficulty which occurs in Marx's theory, and is inherent in his theory, that is : the socialisation of the gold producers' private works. The notion of unlimited demand is thus to be taken as a point of no return which, in actual fact, gives money a value, independent of any exchange. Such a set-back obviously leads us to the other ways of research, in which the notion of money would prevail over the notion of commodity.
