Un análisis regional de las empresas manufactureras españolas para el periodo 2004-2009: Un patrón Noroeste/Suroeste

Abstract: 221Resumen:Este trabajo analiza la eficiencia técnica de las empresas manufactureras ubicadas en diferentes regiones de España. Las empresas manufactureras españolas se agruparon utilizando métodos de cluster. Las empresas ubicadas en regiones del noreste como Cataluña o el País Vasco muestran mayores niveles de I + D, pagan salarios más altos, gastan más en formación y son más grandes que las empresas ubicadas en regiones del sur o del oeste como Andalucía o Extremadura. Además, se encontró que las empresas más grandes con más de 500 trabajadores se agrupan con los niveles más altos de I + D, los costes laborales más altos y el mayor gasto en capacitación.Abstract:This paper analyses the technical efficiency of manufacturing firms located in dif-ferent regions of Spain. Spanish manufacturing firms were grouped using cluster meth-ods. Firms located in north-eastern regions such as Catalonia or the Basque country show higher levels of R&D, pay higher wages, spend more on training, and are larger than firms located in southern or western regions such as Andalusia or Extremadura. Furthermore, we found that larger firms with more than 500 workers are grouped with the highest levels of R&D, the highest labour costs, and the most spending on training.
