Abstract:
The study presents the institutional context of the Bank of the Central African States (BEAC) and proceeds to the analysis of its governance. It shows a management where the purposes are unclear or in conflict with those of the economic and monetary community of Central Africa States (CEMAC)[1]. The premise is that degrees of freedom for the development of an original monetary policy exist. Its development needs the implementation of the principles of good governance to central banks, a redefinition of leaders’ recruitment criteria and an adjustment of the priorities of the BEAC.
