Abstract: This paper describes the development of a different approach to analysis income polarization according to different levels of resolution. The tool proposed is a family of probability density functions which are obtained by mixing dilation and translation of the box spline function of degree three. The ability of local analysis of the density function allows us to group the individuals and the coefficients of the density around poles of income. The relative size of the groups can be determined from the coefficients of the model.
