Abstract:
This paper deals with the problem of the relationship between formal and informal learning in the context of corporate training. It postulates the thesis that within the wide and complex subject of informal learning there is a knowledge of experience which is acquired in a systematic and structured way. This knowledge can be displayed and therefore incorporated into formal learning (corporate training). That is to say, informally acquired knowledge can be transferred to knowledge that needs to be acquired in a formal way. At the same time, knowledge that needs to be acquired in an informal way is always based on formally acquired knowledge. Thus, formal and informal learning are equivalents and always related to one another. Erpenbeck, who presents himself as an advocate of informal learning in many of his papers, fails to realise the central role that needs to be attributed to formal learning.
