Abstract: The article considers the debt policy on the example of the Saratov region, analyzes the risks of the debt policy, and reviews the measures for optimization of the debt portfolio. The author developed the proposals to ensure the sustainability of the budget of the Saratov region and to reduce the credit requirements. Keywords : budget deficit, national debt, risks of debt policy, budget loans, commercial loans, restructuring of debt obligations.
