Abstract:
The depletion of natural resources and degradation of the environment have become mainstream topics across the world, yet the financial services arena is lagging in factoring in these acute problems. This article reviews the recent international trends in establishing ways to measure environmental and nature-related risks for investment and decision-making processes of financial institutions. It concludes that more relevant metrics are expected to be developed and adopted to play a central role in pricing natural capital and develop sustainable financial mechanisms and responsible investment frameworks.
