THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF DOUBLING THE NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES IN THE ROMANIAN IT SECTOR

Abstract: Since the turn of the century, the Romanian IT sector has had a significant positive impact upon the economy of Romania. It created numerous, high-paying, knoladge-based jobs, increase the international exposure and reputation of our nation, positevely contributed to the Romanian exports and attracted significant foreign direct investment. Considering that globaly the tehnology sector is poised to grow faster than any other sector, the present article aims to forcaste the implications of Romania having double the number of IT workers. It will be presented a brief history of the development of the sector in the last decade and how the number of graduates of tehnical expertise has evolved over the same period. Finally, conclusions will be presented on the future of Romanian IT sector and in following papers to be exhibited economic and social forecasts that the country would benefit from.
