Abstract:
This paper assesses the socio-ecological importance of irrigation tank,s organisational capabilities of the rehabilitation of irrigation tanks in Rajasthan. The paper has been divided into two sections: the first section provides the background of irrigation tanks, and justification for their pivotal role: the second section describes the approach that we have evolved to rehabilitate these tanks in th Rajasthan. Interestingly, both the donor agency and the government of Rajasthan evinced a keen interest in the proposed approach.
