Abstract:
The teaching of Language Learning Strategies (LLSs) is a topic that has received much attention in â??recent language pedagogy research. Over the past few decades, language teaching has been transformed from more traditional methods into learner centered teaching, which, in turn, has influenced the process of foreign language acquisition.â??â?? This transformation has led researchers to propose a variety of dynamic learning approaches that focus on encouraging students to determine the appropriate strategies that engage them in learning, and enhance their autonomy in the classroom. The purpose of this paper is to review recent research conducted on several related key issues. First, it gives an overview of the concept, features and different categories of Language Learning Strategies (LLSs). It then goes on to discuss the teachability of these strategies. Finally, it highlights the value of getting EFL students involved in their own learning processes.
